Size doesn't matter

Princes Villa Ladies 3 Waverton 6

For the first ten minutes of this game you would have laughed if anybody had said it would end up in a nine goal affair. The wind was threatening to spoil things when Lily Worden picked up the ball on the right and unleashed a long shot which beat the 'keeper at the far post. Here we go!

Princes Villa got one back just before half time, the wind assisted shot just going under Darcy.

In the second half the yellow shirts came out with both barrels blazing and took control despite the physical prescence of the Villa girls. Keira, Rachel and Lily combined to provide some great chances for Ellie Riste and she took two in quick succession firing Waverton into a good lead. The Ellesmere Port side got one back before Keira scored and then Ellie Riste got her hatrick and cartwheeled down the pitch in celebration. Olivia Rhodes got one too before Princes Villa's late third.

The result sends us to the top of the table.

Training this Saturday at Christleton Primary School. Watch this website for confirmation of time.

Commiserations to Heather who played against Arsenal in the FA Cup on Sunday. Heather played up front and the Blues took the lead, only to make mistakes to let Arsenal back into it. 5-1 the final score.

Princes Villa game this Saturday (23 Feb)

Another good training session at Christleton was rounded off with a practice match against the U8 boys team. The girls ran out 1-0 winners again although the boys put in a much better performance this week and were very unlucky to lose.

This coming Saturday (23 Feb) we are back to League action when we face Princes Villa at Upton. All players should meet there at 10:30.

We are entering a tournament at Poynton on Sunday 22 June. This is a six a side tournament and is one of the best in the region. Please keep this day free and we will confirm details as soon as we can. More details on the tournament can be found by clicking here.

I will be ordering Prostar wet weather training tops for Ellie R, Rachel, Lucy and Lily. If any other players require one please contact me asap.

Mid week training is likely to start shortly on a Wednesday evening. More details soon.

Sibling rivalry

A good training session at Christleton Primary School on Saturday morning was rounded off by a practice match against the u8 boys team who had unwisely challenged the girls to a game. It was great to see Lucy Parkinson back with us.

A close and competitive game saw the girls defeat the boys by a single Olivia Rhodes goal. There were a couple of sister v brother battles going on and the result has probably led to a few family arguments this weekend!

Have a good half term week and we'll see you all back at Christleton Primary School next Saturday at 9:50 for another training session.

Training sessions on Sat 9 and Sat 16 at Christleton Primary School

The 'all weather' pitch didn't live up to its name on Saturday morning as the game against Princes Villa Utd had to be called off. The snow on the top was light but underneath it was a layer of ice. Rachel's mum tried it out and after a couple of Jayne Torvill manoevures said that she couldn't keep her feet.

The referee and the County Officers' manager agreed with Rachel's mum's verdict and sadly we had to call the game off.

The good news is that we have two training sessions set up for the next two Saturdays. We have no league fixtures until after half term but there will be a training session from 10-11 on both Saturday 9 February and Saturday 16 February. These will be at Christleton Primary School and will on grass, so please bring boots. Please arrive by 9:50am as we only have an hour. Please keep an eye on this website because plans may have to change if the pitches become unplayable because of the weather.

I am taking orders for the wet weather training tops for those girls that don't have them. They are Prostar tops and come in sizes 28/30, 30/32 or 34/36. They will be around the £24/£26 mark each depending upon size. Please let me know asap if you are interested.

Debbie Kendall at the County Officers club is running a half term coaching session for girls aged 8-12 on Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 February. The sessions are from 10 until 3 each day and will take place at Upton County Officers club. Please let me know if you are interested and I will send you a booking form. Alternatively contact Debbie on 01244 310158 or by email at

See you next Saturday at Christleton!
