Late pressure from Waverton fails to save the game

First game back after the half term break and a disappointing scoreline for our girls at a rain soaked Upton on Saturday 3 November.

The Dynamoes are a strong side and took the lead on 7 minutes, doubling their lead three minutes later as the Waverton girls struggled to get to grips with the game. Heather and Mike made some changes at half time but Vicars Cross doubled their lead before Waverton got hold of the game and put pressure on the Dynamoes goal. The pressure paid off when with just 5 minutes of the game left, a great ball from Lily Worden put Olivia Rhodes through with a great chance to score in front of goal. Olivia made no mistake. Soon after Waverton nearly got a second and continued to press forward, with a succession of Keira Berry corners nearly resulting in a goal. At the other end, Darcy Tuite made a fantastic diving save late on to deny the red shirted Dynamoes another goal and Cara Grime did some excellent clearing up work in defence.

Quote of the day: 'How can I be the striker when I am wearing the number 15 shirt?' - Olivia before kick off.

We are now half way through the first part of the season and we play all of the teams again before Christmas. Waverton have played well generally this season and should be able to challenge for the top spot in the League.

Next Saturday (November 10th) we do not have a league game, but all players are required to report for training at 10:30 am. Provisionally this will be at Christleton Primary School, but please keep an eye on this website for confirmation.

We've had lots of interest in the Birmingham Ladies FC visit on Sunday 2 December and hope to be able to get enough to run a coach, at a cost of £10 per person. Parents are welcome. Please confirm your availability with either Simon or Mike.
